General Motors wanted to show how thankful it is to have had help from the country by opening its doors to all 54 U.S. manufacturing plants so the public could visit and tour. Michigan GMC dealers hear first day of the open houses were successful.
DETROIT, M.I. – Michigan GMC dealers heard last year that General Motors planned on opening its doors to all of its U.S. manufacturing plants to offer the public the chance to visit and tour the different locations.
General Motors decided this would be a great way to send a “Thank You” to the America public for its support during its hard time. GM also said in a press release that the open houses will give each visitor the chance to discover more about the people, products and plants that make up General Motors.

“Thanks to the support we have received from various stakeholder groups, we have a strong U.S. manufacturing footprint that employs thousands of people,” said Diana Tremblay, GM Vice President of Manufacturing and Labor Relations, in a GM press release. “These open houses are our way of showing our appreciation to the communities where we operate.

The only plant that has regularly scheduled tours is GM’s Bowling Green Assembly Plant in Kentucky, and all other locations will pick a date for their facility to invite the public to attend newly planned tours, videos and displays. Michigan GMC dealers also heard UAW and General Motors employees were branching out from the manufacturing plants to the classroom as volunteers will visit the local schools. They will discuss manufacturing and how it affects the U.S. economy as well as the value of a strong math and science education.
The Parma Metal Center in Ohio opened its doors last Sunday and greeted an estimated 5,125 visitors on the May 22nd and 23rd. Many employees at the Metal Center were in the conference room to answer any questions about improvements and processes. Vehicles were also displayed in the showroom to give guests a look into what is produced at the plant.
Michigan GMC dealers may feel this is a unique opportunity for General Motors to show the public what is going on at the plants that have survived and have been rejuvenated with the help of the taxpayers and the government.

wiredmikey writes "New malware has been discovered embedded in more than 20 Android applications circulating via various forums on the Internet which auto-dials phone numbers to incur high user fees. Dubbed BaseBridge, the malware can be embedded in legitimate applications, and during the application's installation, the malware prompts the user to upgrade. If the user chooses to upgrade, the malware is installed on the Android device under the name 'com.android.battery'. Then, another prompt would pop up to ask the user to restart the app to run it, and the malware is formally activated upon restart. Once activated, the malware can activate three malicious services — AdSmsService, BridgeProvider and PhoneService, to communicate with a control server, from which it will download a configuration file to read related information and dial calls or send out SMS messages, incurring fees for users." http://bit.ly/iSDXyX" title="Share on Twitter" target="_blank">

Rock climbers do this when they need to climb at big mountains. Sometimes they need rest or to delay their adventure because of weather, so they mount these camps on mountain with no fear. In these pictures some of camps are handing at more than 4000 ft from ground. And these pictures show us how the climbers spend night on the cliff staying miles up above the ground.

Acer says Microsoft is too 'controlling' of Windows tablets, restrictions 't...

A web of rumor and suggestion has been spun in recent weeks about a new tablet-oriented version of Windows. But when major players like Acer start moanin' and complainin' about how they're going to make hardware to run the new OS, that's when you know something has to be afoot. According to Bloomberg, Acer CEO J. T. Wang spoke up at Computex to berate Microsoft for being too restrictive in what processors it will permit to carry its new baby, saying it is "really controlling the whole thing, the whole process." And he wasn't just speaking for Acer either, because he added that chip suppliers and PC makers "all feel it's very troublesome." It begs the question, if Steve Ballmer is borrowing Apple's approach and becoming a control freak, why doesn't he just go whole hog and build a Microsoft Tablet from start to finish? [Thanks, Tiago]

General Motors wants to ensure its dealerships receive the recognition they deserve. This year three Michigan Chevrolet dealers were honored along with another 103 dealerships.
DETROIT, M.I. – Michigan Chevrolet dealers stand proud as General Motors announced the awards for its 2010 Dealer of Year Award. The ceremony is held to honor the top two percent of GM dealers across the country that have shown not only exceptional performance in sales but also in service and customer satisfaction.
Every year since the program initiated in 2000, General Motors has recognized dealers for their achievements. The program has been held off for two years as GM worked its way back from bankruptcy, but as the company gains sustainability and retakes its competitive edge, GM wanted to continue its tradition.

“We are pleased to bring back the Dealer of the Year program after suspending it for two years,” said GM Chairman and CEO Dan Akerson at the ceremony.  “This is another sign of our improving health.  It’s great to be able to recognize our dealers’ achievements again since they play such a huge role in our success.”

There were 7,000 dealers that were considered for the awards, which were given to Michigan Chevrolet dealers and other GM dealerships across the county. Only 106 were awarded. The awards included:

·         50 Chevrolet dealers

·         16 Buick dealers

·         16 GMC dealers

·         20 Cadillac dealers

Of the winners of the 2006 Jack Smith Leadership Award, so named after the retired GM Chairman and Chief Executive Officer and founder of the honorary program, 10 of the awards went to dealerships in Michigan. There were three Michigan Chevrolet dealerships, three GMC dealers, two Buick and two Cadillac from Michigan.

“This is an accomplishment reserved for only a select few outstanding Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac dealerships and is a symbol of exceptional performance in delivering superior customer service while consistently growing sales,” said Mark Reuss, President of GM North America, during his speech at the ceremony.
